About the Work
Sixhand painting--grazyman is an international group of artists working together on collaborative abstract paintings. The group had their first meeting in Munich, Germany in December of 2000, and now meets several times each year to work and exhibit. Currently, the group works and exhibits in Germany, Italy, and the USA. All three artists work together on each painting. The painting process involves each artist responding to something another member of the group has started. Each painting continues in this way until all three agree it is finished. The paintings are then exhibited as one body of work. The term sixhand refers to the number of hands involved in creating the work. The word grazyman comes from parts of each artist's last name. Reiner Gramlich lives and works in Germany and France. Eckhard Zylla lives and works in Germany and Italy. Michael Manning lives and works in the USA.
